Lot going on in that graph. First, what looks like the cartoon representation of the discrete data points showing a good match to the theoretical curve… although the points could just be the way the artist drew the curve. The curve, and the formula, are Planck’s formulation of blackbody radiation, one of the early important developments in quantum theory. The particular blackbody spectrum shown, with the peak at 160.4 GHz (which corresponds to 1.87mm) is for the cosmic microwave background radiation, at about 2.7 Kelvin, an important piece of experimental evidence for the Big Bang.
I love the warning at the bottom of the page…
